Over the holiday period our patrol focused on carparks in the areas of Halswell Quarry, Mt Vernon Park, and Rapaki Track after we noticed an increase in car break-ins. These break-ins are still occurring and there are some simple steps that can be taken to reduce the risk such as: taking valuables out of your car when leaving it or keeping them out of sight and, parking in areas that are busier & surrounded by other cars. These days break-ins are normally done by smashing a window and grabbing items instead of picking/breaking locks.

The Southern View featured our patrol and spoke to our patrol leader Ken Bye about the increased concern – the full article can be found here: https://bit.ly/3Li1PEf. If you would like to join us to help reduce crime in your area, please head over to https://chcsthpatrol.org.nz/get-involved/
